What is Civil Society? |
|
Civil society
refers to the space which lies between the state and
private sectors and represent un-coerced collective
action around common interests, purposes and values.
Civil society comprises a diversity of spaces,
actors and institutions varying in their degree of
formality, autonomy and power. Civil society is
valued for its civilian nature and its role in
strengthening peace and stability. |

Peace Building |

| ACSF, as of February 2006, has established its peace building department. This initiative has been undertaken due to the dire need for conflict transformation and peace building programs in Afghanistan. A great deal of effort has been expended by various players in attempts to rebuild the physical infrastructure of Afghanistan while, comparatively little support has been provided to rebuild the social infrastructure.

Advocacy |
|
Believing that democratic governance is the task of
citizens as well as governments, we extend the boundaries of public
decision-making by engaging civil society groups in policy debates
aiming at expanding public space and citizenship.
Goal
To empower the poor, marginalized people and civil
society to have a voice on important issues and influence policies
for their own benefit.
The mission of ACSF’s advocacy department is to
influence the laws and policies of Afghanistan government, bringing
positive modification in favor of poor, vulnerable and marginalized
people.
